What’s q.buzz?

It’s an app that helps you write a few questions, answer them regularly, discover patterns, and achieve your goals.

It’s sort of a mash up between a survey app and a habit tracker.  Like a survey app, you can ask whatever you want, and there are lots of question types.  Like a habit tracker, you can set reminders and see your progress over time.

Add in powerful charting tools, medical-grade* privacy, and live exports to Google Sheets, and you get q.buzz.

People use q.buzz to track their mental health, productivity, exercise, diet, sleep, moods, symptoms, cat feedings, and more.  The more you use it, the more uses you’ll find.

*HIPAA compliance pending.

Who created q.buzz?

I did!  I’m Jake Hartman, a scientist and engineer living in Los Angeles, California.  This app started as my personal accountability tracker during the pandemic, and I found it so useful that I turned it into a fully featured app.  I sincerely hope that you find it helpful too.

Before developing q.buzz, I worked at Google on the Google Drive backend, built radio telescopes at NASA JPL and the University of New Mexico, and studied the evolution of X-ray pulsars at the US Naval Research Laboratory and at MIT, where I earned a PhD in physics.

How do I get it?

If you’re on an Android or iOS device, you can get q.buzz from Google Play or the App Store.

On the web, you can go to app.q.buzz and install the web page as a fully featured app.

You can use q.buzz on multiple devices.  Data is stored in the cloud, so you’ll always have your latest questions and responses.

What’s it cost?

Q.buzz is free for the first 30 days.  After that, a subscription is $2 a month or $20 a year.

You will always have access to your data, even if your subscription expires.  You simply won’t be able to make new responses.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes.  We understand that you may be sharing sensitive information, and we take your privacy very seriously.

Your data is encrypted when it is sent to and from the q.buzz cloud database, and the database itself is encrypted.  This is the same level of privacy provided by most cloud-storage apps, such as Google Drive and Dropbox.

Our end goal is to have q.buzz certified for HIPAA compliance.  You will be able to securely share health data with doctors and therapists.
